Got out early again this morning, and drove up Lamar Valley searching for wolves again. We were a little more systematic about it this time – we searched the roadside for groups of people with expensive spotting scopes, and checked to see if they were all pointed in the same direction – this was a sure sign that the wolf pack had been spotted.
We did run into the usual “buffalo jam”:

And sure enough, around 8:00 AM we found a large cluster of spotting scopes, all pointing at a pack of eight wolves about half a mile across the valley. This was taken with a 20x zoom camera:
Later we hiked the Lost Lake trail and spotted this doe and fawn:

Sadly, tonight we leave Yellowstone, and head for the Oregon coast. Happy trails!
