Hi, the last few days we’ve visited Mammoth Hot Springs, Norris Geyser Basin, and have taken several day hikes in the Canyon area and the north end of the park. Most of the more popular destinations, like Old Faithful, are overcrowded. Our strategy has been to avoid these areas – typically, there won’t be any parking, and even if you do get parking, it takes forever to get back out – there will be a cluster of cars “vulturing” in the parking lot, clogging up traffic. We head out either early early morning, or in late afternoon, when things aren’t so busy.
